Most Important Panel

I believe the most important panel is the final panel of “The Dowry”. The scene shows the despair and sadness of Marjane’s mother and father as Marjane looks at them through an airport window. This scene is extremely important because it signifies a very pivotal in the story. The reader of the visual novel as this point realizes a start of a daunting and new future of Marjane. The panel evokes a lot of pathos with dark shadows cast over Marjane’s father’s eyes as well as her mother’s limp figure. What particularly struck me the most about the illustration is the figure of Marjane pressed up with her hands against the window. The window acts as if to represent a barrier that traps Marjane from being with her parents and her home, Iran.

Sunday Funny 3: Visual Note Taking

Scannerino-page-001

I decided to use macroeconomics for the visual note-taking assignment, because I felt that Macro-economics, a subject where there are a lot of connections and terms, would be a useful seeing in a visual format. I at first had trouble initially starting, but after beginning to draw/write I started to get more into it. I feel like for certain subjects such as my financial accounting and macroeconomics class, visual note-taking would honestly be a useful way to further better imprint the information into my brain.  I feel that it would be hard for me to take visual notes during a class since I’m not used to this new style and I personally felt I had to use a-lot more effort and attention when visually note-taking. But, this can be useful prior to a test or a quiz just for a great study guide to have a large amount of information on one page that I would understand would be a great study tool. I honestly enjoyed this process, it takes note taking, a dull and boring task, and incorporates creativity into it to make it not only fun but also productive.

Sunday Funny 1:My badge

The Badge

Badge Assignment:

I believe that the places you grow up in are an integral part in the development of ones identity. For me, my parents work in the public health sector, so their jobs has brought me to live in countries like the United States, Switzerland, and China. The flags are a reflection of the places that I consider home and the places that have made me who I am. Living in various places exposed me to different cultural views and has molded and shaped my identity as a person. The three equal images of flags represent the three places that I equally feel are my home and a large part of my identity. I specifically chose the images of flags because I felt that the consistent sky blue background looked appealing. I had quite a-lot of trouble completing the assignment. One of the biggest issues that I still have is adjusting the badge to fit its proper dimensions of 300 pixels wide by 250 pixels high. Whenever I tried to rescale it, it would squeeze the size of the badge thus making the division of the three flags uneven and unappealing. I am also having particular trouble in creating a link from my main site to the blog for my english class.
